This proud legacy has fostered a culture of innovation and safety, leading our team to design the world’s most impactful energy projects—projects vital to both local and global communities. **Your Opportunity** The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks for dams and hydropower projects, conveyance tunnels, power delivery, drydocks, and navigation projects for a variety of domestic and international clients. The successful candidate will be working in conjunction with other engineers and geologists on multi-discipline teams to support project activities through the application of engineering and geologic principles and techniques. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and with small and large teams to apply critical thinking skills to solve technical issues and develop project- specific solutions. The position will require travel to project sites and will provide stimulating career growth opportunities. **Your Key Responsibilities** + Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner. + Work in conjunction with engineers and geologists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required. + Perform feasibility studies by conducting research to assess issues and develop solutions. + Conduct field inspections. Plan and implement field exploration and testing programs, which may include field coordination, soil and rock drilling, test pitting sampling, and geologic mapping. + Perform site characterizations and evaluate geotechnical hazards. + Select criteria for planning, design and construction of dams, tunnels, caverns, foundations, slopes, and earth retaining structures. + Assess subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geomechanical conditions including review and interpretation of field maps, field logs, test data and other field documentation. + Evaluate field and laboratory test data and develop parameters for use in technical analyses. + Conduct geological modeling and numerical analysis using programs such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE, UDEC, FLAC, Plaxis 2D/3D, RS2/RS3, Leapfrog, GeoStudio (e.g., SEEP/W and SLOPE/W) and gINT. + Incorporate regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines into design. + Prepare technical reports including geotechnical data reports, geotechnical baseline reports, field reports, technical memoranda, computation packages, feasibility reports, design and evaluation reports, construction drawings and specifications. + Provide field engineering support for projects during construction. + Lead and mentor younger staff and run projects and tasks with the assistance of other engineers or geologists. + Prepare portions of engineering project proposals, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects. + Manage time and budget and use resources efficiently. + Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness. + Participate in professional development and training activities. **Qualifications** **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Willing and able to travel both nationally and internationally to conduct field investigations or construction quality oversight type work. + Working knowledge of the principles of civil/geotechnical or geological engineering, numerical modeling, finite element analyses, and computer aided design drafting. + Experience with geological mapping, subsurface exploration, geomechanical analyses, assessments of slopes, foundations, tunnels, shafts, and caverns. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. + Ability to work as part of a team and to engage in creative and critical thought. + Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks at the same time. + Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software. + Valid driver’s license and good driving record. **Education and Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering geology, geologic engineering, or geotechnical engineering. + Master’s degree in geology, engineering geology, geologic engineering, geotechnical engineering preferred. + Professional registration as a geologist, engineering geologist, or geological/geotechnical engineer strongly desired. + More than 10 years of engineering geology or geotechnical experience with experience related to dam foundation grouting, quarries, aggregate processing, excavations, geologic mapping, and dam design preferred.
